Stephen Woodjetts

In his forty-two years in theatre, Mr. Woodjetts has worked as a music director/conductor, composer, actor, and director. Selected music direction credits include Mary Poppins, Rainbow Stage, Sweeney Todd and Edwin Drood for Vertigo, The Producers and All Shook Up (Stage West Calgary), Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Theatre Calgary), Dreamgirls (Manitoba Theater Centre/Theatre Aquarius/Stage West Calgary), and Urinetown (CanStage). He has composed for the Stratford Festival for 14 seasons, original music for the “Wingfield” series of plays, as well as creating the musicals 9 Months, 9 Months Two and Adam and Eve.

Directing credits include Carousel and The Mystery of Edwin Drood (University of Windsor), Jacques Brel… (National Arts Centre), and The Happy Prince (Hermione Presents).

Mr. Woodjetts is the recipient of four Betty Mitchell Awards (Sweeney Todd, Cabaret, Berlin to Broadway and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), and a Dora Mavor Moore award for Urinetown, all for Outstanding Music Direction – as well as two Guthrie awards from the Stratford Festival. He is currently on the faculty of the Music Theatre program at Sheridan College, where he teaches Music Vocal Performance and coaches.

Stephen attended the National Ballet School, on scholarship, from 1970 to 1974.
