Brent Thiessen

Brent Thiessen is a trained accompanist and vocal coach, working privately with both young performers and professionals for the past ten years. In addition to being a faculty member of Bravo Academy and Ovation Performing Arts, he is the co@owner of Toronto Talent Intensive, a workshop series that gives children across the country the opportunity to train with some of Canada’s leading performers in musical theatre and the performing arts.

A member of Canadian Actors’ Equity, Brent has recently returned from creating the new musical, Rumors and Dreams, about the music of rock and roll legends Fleetwood Mac, alongside Randy Johnson, director and creator of the Tony@nominated musical, A Night with Janis Joplin. Other performance credits include 80’s Solid Gold (Stage West); Forever Plaid, Einstein’s Gift (Magnus Theatre); Come Fly With Me (Showboat Festival Theatre); and several years as a vocal captain and featured singer with Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and Celebrity Cruise Lines. Recent concert/ cabaret performances include A Couple of Swells (Soulpepper) and Brent Thiessen Sings the Nat King Cole Songbook (Flying Beaver).

Brent has trained extensively in Canada as well as in New York City, working with some of Broadway’s greatest directors, choreographers, musical directors and performers, including Robert Marks (Annie), Josh Prince (Shrek, Beautiful), Jeff Shade (Chicago, Sweet Charity), and Dana Moore (Fosse, A Chorus Line). He is active in his pursuit of artistic mastery, regularly attending workshops and classes, and is dedicated to expanding his skill set as both a performer and educator.

Brent has been an entrance audition accompanist for the country’s foremost musical theatre training program, Sheridan College, of which he is also a proud graduate.   |
